Camps

Willaura Primary School's camping program aims to foster social skills, independence, leadership, environmental awareness and to provide students with a range of educational activities to reinforce and extend classroom learning.

Our Prep students are gradually introduced to our School Camp program by enjoying an extended school day and evening meal at school. In Year 1/2/3 our students have a sleepover at the school. Year 4/5/6 involves a wider ranging camp experience.

Following an extensive camping review in 2012 involving parent, staff and student consultation, a three year rotation for Years 4/5/6 was decided. This rotation consists of:
  • Roses Gap: an outdoor adventure camp in the northern Grampians involving bush walks, hut building, canoeing, night walks, flying fox and giant swing.
  • Snow Camp: a four day/three night camp involving two full days of skiing at Mt Buller.
  • Melbourne Camp: an urban camping experience learning to use public transport, seeing the sights and experiencing the feel of living and learning in Melbourne. This camp also supports student learning about Parliament, Australian History and the History of Melbourne.
